Nutrition Across the Lifespan

It is a pleasure to instruct your child in developing lifelong learning skills in Nutrition Across the Lifespan. Nutrition Across the Life Span is for students interested in learning more about becoming a dietitian, nutritionist, counselor, or pursing a variety of scientific, health, or culinary arts professions. This course covers human anatomy and physiological systems, nutrition requirements, as well as social, cultural, and other impacts on food preparation and integrity. Artifacts will be created for inclusion in a portfolio, which will continue to build throughout the program of study. Standards in this course are aligned with Tennessee Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in Technical Subjects, Tennessee Biology I, Chemistry I, Human Anatomy & Physiology (A&P), Scientific Research, and World Geography standards, and the National Standards for Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Second Edition. Upon completing this course your child will be assessed with the opportunity to receive a Safe Food Handlers Certificate.
Success class will be offered once a week on Tuesdays for students who need to complete work, make up work, take a test or retake a test. Success class provides an opportunity for student to be successful in Nutrition Across the Lifespan by getting the extra help when needed.

Test/Quiz 25%
Labs/Projects 25%

- Box of tissue
- Composition book
- 1” Binder
- Flash drive to save work to save for portfolio
- Hair net
- 1 box of Ziploc Freezer bags (Quart size)
- $20.00 (Twenty) – All moneys are due by the end of the August for the first semester and Januanary for the second semester Cash only. The money is to pay for the Safe Food Handlers Test to become certified Safe Food Handlers.
- Parent conferences will be held twice a year, one in each semester.
